Chaar Suluu, a stallion who is opening a new page of history of chaar breed today, with one of his foals

  •          2012 – shootings of the film “True Appaloosa” and purchasing Chaar Suluu and 5 mares, launching a chaar horse breeding program.

New born TanSuluu, TanSuluu is one of our stallions who will join to reproductions works this spring with new herd formed for him, we will talk about him very soon.

•               From 2013 to 2020, the process of reviving the Chaar horse, initiated by Munarbek, progressed slowly and faced significant challenges. Annual losses due to predator attacks ranged from 3 to 6 horses, while winter feed shortages led to miscarriages among mares. The project was funded solely through Munarbek’s personal contributions and the sale of foals, with the proceeds used to buy feed and pay the horsemen. Despite all the difficulties, by 2020, the herd had grown to only 15 horses.

•               2021 – In 2021, Munarbek realized that continuing in the same way was no longer an option, especially as the costs of maintaining the horses had significantly increased. He faced a difficult choice: either sell off the herd, which was suffering from malnutrition and weight loss during the winter, or find a lasting solution to the problem. He made a decisive choice—leaving behind a successful business to fully dedicate himself to his life’s mission. The first step was launching an accelerated breeding program for the Chaar horse. Munarbek sent invitations to his friends and former clients around the world, inviting them to take part in the program. Not everyone responded, but it was a crucial first step toward reviving the breed.

•               2022 – Thanks to the first participants of the accelerated Chaar breeding program, key challenges were overcome: securing a stable supply of feed, halting the sale of valuable foals—now preserved for continued selective breeding—and ensuring the horsemen’s wages. These foals carry invaluable genetic information and play a crucial role in the future revival of the breed. As interest in the program grew, people from various countries—France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Canada, and the USA—began joining the initiative. The program was gaining momentum, attracting more and more like-minded individuals.

  •     In 2023, following the advice of his longtime friend Nicolas Poirier, Munarbek decided to take the next step—uniting those dedicated to the revival and promotion of the Chaar horse. With the strong support of Nicolas and the early participants of the accelerated breeding program, the Chaar Appaloosa International Association was founded. This marked a major breakthrough in the effort to preserve and restore this unique breed.

•               In 2024, when the population of horses began to steadily increase and effective solutions were found to protect them from predators and other challenges, the association successfully completed an important phase of organizational work. Clear goals and objectives were set, an official website was created, and approvals were obtained from the authorities in France — where the association is registered — for the return of a portion of donations in accordance with local legislation. Additionally, the Chaar brand was launched, and its products can be purchased online, no matter which continent the buyer is on. All these achievements were made possible thanks to the coordinated and diligent work of the association’s team.

•               2025 - Currently, the herd consists of 60 horses, and with the upcoming spring, we expect a foal crop of 20 new horses. The entire herd is currently housed on an old, dilapidated farm covering 0.2 hectares, which significantly limits the possibilities for their care and development. That’s why, in 2025, thanks to the contributions of our like-minded supporters, the association was able to acquire a 0.8-hectare plot of land to build new, comfortable enclosures for the herds and the unique eco-lounge “CHAAR.” This project will not only address the overcrowding issue but also become a hub for Chaar horse enthusiasts and an inspiring example for the local community. Here, people will see how preserving this unique breed contributes to safeguarding historical heritage and biodiversity. Integrating the project into eco-tourism will open up new opportunities for local residents, allowing them to earn income while protecting nature and culture. This project will serve as a model of sustainable development and a valuable contribution to the future of both the community and the country.

The project to revive the Chaar horse is not just a unique international initiative but a mission centered around biodiversity, ecology, and historical heritage. Our goal is to increase the herd to 500 horses, achieve official recognition of the breed, and make Chaar one of the most popular indigenous horse breeds in the world. However, our mission goes beyond just preserving the breed. We understand that every action we take at the local level has a global impact — contributing to the preservation of the planet’s biodiversity, protecting ecosystems, and safeguarding the cultural heritage of the peoples whose history is intertwined with this unique horse.

Ahead of us lie incredibly exciting endeavors. Thanks to the Chaar horse and the professionalism of our international team, we aim to combine the breeding of Chaar with the promotion of equestrian sports like endurance and particularly horseball. Through this, we plan to teach local youth not only the game but also the values of humane treatment of animals. This will open up new opportunities for them, allowing them to explore new horizons and make their mark on the international stage. In this way, by developing the sport and preserving the breed, we contribute to the protection of nature, the promotion of culture, and the creation of a sustainable future where ecology, culture, and sport are interconnected and thrive together.

We invite you, no matter where you are, to become part of this unique project. Whether you are a horse enthusiast, a professional in equestrian sports, or simply someone passionate about preserving biodiversity and cultural values, we are confident that there is a place for you in our mission.

Let’s work together to ensure that the legacy of the Chaar horse endures for future generations and contributes to a sustainable future for both nature and humanity. Join us and be a part of something extraordinary!
